Much has been told about the benefits that Mexico would have upon the trade opening; however, little

locally, creating jobs in one site and eliminating them in many others. Competitive workers (well
educated), will have less difficulties in finding a job opportunity. In underdeveloped countries (with low
educationalleveO, these opportunities willbe limited. Is our society aware ofthis competitive scenario?
Can the common worker do something about his competitiveness? Do authorities have the plans to
improve our education level? Do they have the will?! ... Given the economic crisis, the answer s, No ...
the class in power, in order to maintain its status, cannot afford the change, ncluded the educational
one. Then, who was the beneficiary of a free trade?
