La guerra anglo-argentina de 1982 constituyó un hito en la configuración identitaria del Reino Unido de la Gran Bretaña e Irlanda del Norte. Pese a su carácter marginal en la milenaria historia de ese país, el conflicto aportó un conjunto de sentimientos cristalizados en autopercepciones y constituidos en conceptos que constituyen la llamada “Falkland’s cause”. Estos elementos abundaron en la dimensión sociológica y condicionan la capacidad de maniobra de la diplomacia británica de manera similar a como la “causa nacional Malvinas” limita la capacidad de maniobra de la diplomacia argentina.

The Anglo-Argentina War of 1982 is a milestone in the configuration of the national identity of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Despite its marginal character in the ancient history of the country, the conflict brought a set of self-perceptions and feelings crystallized in concepts that created a “Falkland’s cause”.
