La globalización de las bellas artes en el siglo XXI: Royal Academy of Dance de México

Abstract

La Royal Academy of Dance es una de las más grandes e influyentes organizaciones de educación de danza en el mundo. El particular sistema de enseñanza de esta academia ha permitido su expansión por el globo acercando este arte a miles de personas. Empezando su historia en nuestro país durante los años cincuenta, hoy existen más de 90 academias en la Ciudad de México y otras se extienden a lo largo de casi toda la República. El estudio y análisis de la historia de esta organización y su desarrollo en México, arrojaron una necesidad inminente de la creación de una sede que centralizara los servicios que requiere la red de academias existentes. A partir de esto, establecida la necesidad de un objeto arquitectónico que respondiera a estas demandas, y observando la situación actual en la que se desata esta expansión, donde se habla de globalización con respecto a todas la actividades del hombre, incluyendo las bellas artes, se desprendió la interrogante que sirvió de base y marcó los límites del campo de la investigación y proceso creativo de la propuesta: ¿Cómo responder a la globalización mediante las Bellas Artes sin nulificar la identidad de la cultura? Se siguió entonces un proceso obedeciendo la metodología específica en la creación de un objeto arquitectónico, analizando todos los factores que se debían tomar en cuenta para el desarrollo del proyecto y dirigiéndose a una conclusión, la cual sería el resultado final de la propuesta y la única en poder responder a la cuestión.

Royal Academy of Dance is one of the largest and influential organizations of dance education in the world. The particular teaching system of this academy has allowed its expansion by the globe taking closer this art to thousands of people. It started its history in our country back in the fifties; now a day there are 90 academies in Mexico City and there are some others all over the country. The study and analysis of this organization’s history and its development in Mexico showed an imminent need of creating a venue that would centralized all the services required by the net of academies currently in operation. Taking this as a starting point and once established the need of an architectural object that would answer to these demands, and observing the current situation where this expansion starts from, where globalization is in conversations respect all men’s activities, including fine arts, a question emerged as basis and frame to the boundaries of the research and creative process of the proposal: How to respond to globalization through Fine Arts without nullifying the identity of culture? Thus, a process was followed obeying a specific methodology in the creation of an architectural object, analyzing all the factors that should be considered for the development of the Project and leading to a conclusion that would be the final result of the proposal and the sole that could answer the matter.
