- Welfare basket 2020, background, comparison and methodological proposalMárquez Olvera, Ian, Arellano Aceves, Diana, Jiménez Bandala, Carlos Alberto, Meneses Ruiz, Dulce Maria (Universidad La Salle México, Facultad de Negocios, 2020)Since of 2019, the International Observatory of Living Wages began the construction of a "Wellbeing Basket" as the set of goods and services to which an individual must have access with their purchasing power for their personal development and that of their family. In this sense, this paper aims to update the cost of the 2019 basket while making some important methodological clarifications that allow longitudinal monitoring of the selected products. The purpose is not to lose sight of the enormous gap that exists between the cost of the welfare basket and the minimum wage to promote the continuation of the wage recovery policies that the President of the Republic began in 2018. It is highlighted that by 2020 the cost of the basket had a marginal advance, even below general inflation, which reflects an advance in the purchasing power of wages and national price stability

- The challenge for economic and social welfare: maintaining the balance between employment and wage recoveryPeñaloza Méndez, Andrés (Universidad La Salle México, Facultad de Negocios, 2020)Strictly speaking, the recovery of formal jobs in the private sector began last July. Insured workers with an associated salary, which represent 99% of those insured by the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), increased by 16,835 with respect to last month, a positive monthly variation of 0.1%. If there is no pandemic rebound, it is possible to begin to reverse the 1,111,888 jobs lost during March-June in this segment, which has fallen by 4.4% in comparison with the previous year.
- Women in top management positions: the case of the Mexican Federal Telecommunications InstituteVera, Gonzalo (Universidad La Salle México, Facultad de Negocios, 2020)We rarely question whether the current composition in which there is a predominance of men in top management positions generates benefits for organizations and for society. However, when it comes to women we seek to justify the benefits of their presence. Considering this, we can say that only for social justice is the inclusion of more women relevant. However, to this fact we can add benefits of including them in those positions. The low representation of women in these positions is largely due to the absence of equal labor conditions between women and men, the functioning of traditional gender roles and stereotypes, and human capital management policies without a gender perspective. The research studies from collaborators’ perception of Mexican public institution, which are the factors that influence more to get more women in top management positions. The results indicate that women consider as a fundamental factor for their promotion having adequate working conditions that allow them to develop their capacities through co-responsibility of tasks in front of men. In other words, guarantee conditions of true equality between women and men.
- Women occupancy in leadership positionsMuñoz Delgado, Denisse (Universidad La Salle México, Facultad de Negocios, 2020)In recent years, the participation of women in leadership roles throughout the world has increased considerably. However, it is not representative if we compare it with the participation of men. By surveying current leaders from top companies in Mexico, this research explored the scarce occupation of women in leadership roles around the world, trying to identify the main causes that affect women from achieving high leadership positions, as well as to analyze the importance for companies to implement initiatives that reverse this trend. The results indicate that both females and males see the main problem in Payment differences and Gender stereotypes. There is no negative perception about the inequality in hiring process itself. So, to improve the presence of women in leadership positions, the leaders propose creating Pay equality policies and better Training and development programs.
- Efficiency in combating femicides in Estado de MéxicoGonzález, Nathalia, Pérez, Mónica, Arenas, Admin (Universidad La Salle México, Facultad de Negocios, 2020)Femicide is one of the main problems currently occurring in Mexico. The level of femicide has been growing during the last decade resulting in many public protests and creation of new public strategies to combat it. However, these strategies seem inefficient as the situation is not getting better. Therefore, it is important to analyze public security systems in order to find possible areas that could lead to lower level of femicide. Estado de México is one of the most violent Mexican states. That is why, we apply Data Envelopment Analysis model to analyze the efficiency of public security system in 120 municipalities in Estado de México. The results revealed very low efficiency across the whole state and a relation between the population size and the level of the efficiency. The results suggest that the efficiency could be improved by eliminating the understaffing of personnel involved in security, gender equity and women ́s rights.

- Green marketing in an emerging economy: Exploring attitudes of Mexican consumersIliescu, Maria Cristina (Universidad La Salle México, Facultad de Negocios, 2020-08-31)The purpose of this research is to improve the comprehension of the influencing or inhibiting factors of eco-friendly consumption in an emerging economy. Online survey and focus group were used to study 297 Mexicans with different incomes from two neighbourhoods of Mexico City. Then, the Chi-Square test has been used to relate demographic variables to the consumer segments. The findings highlight the following dominant themes related to hesitation in the adoption of green behaviours: price and perceived quality, trust and credibility, and lifestyle. Overall, deeply rooted habits and traditions seem to resist eco-friendly behaviours. The elements that drive consumers from positive attitudes and intentions to the actual adoption of green practices are a combination of perceived personal benefits, decreased perceived risk and uncertainty, and a sense of control over costs. To build green responsibility, it appears imperative to calibrate consumer knowledge and offer affordable lower-priced alternatives for the low-income market segments, which constitute the vast majority of the population in emerging economies.
