Corruption within government is one of the greatest sorrows that afflict today’s Mexican society. A specific jurisdictional figure created with the sole purpose of fighting it is referred as “administrative responsibilities”. However, this form of jurisdictional responsibility has yet to successfully contain the phenomenon of corruption, even though it has been incorporated to the Mexican legal framework since the early 1980’s. It is for this reason and looking to improve the administrative responsibilities system, that in July 2016 the new “General Law on Administrative Responsibilities” was introduced as a key element of the recently created National Anticorruption System. In this sense, the objective of this document, is to clearly lay down the legal analysis of the administrative responsibilities figure in terms of both the recently abrogated law and the new law, thus bringing light on their differences and aiding law specialists in the application of this new legislation in the most efficient way possible.
